In the exclusive interview, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi says while most political parties focus on petty issues and election results, he would rather focus on nation-building. "The mission of my life is to empower the people of India," he tells Javed M. Ansari in his first Hindi interview.
Gandhi's most candid interview till date will be telecast at 9 pm tonight on Headlines Today.
"BJP is marketing itself well, but the result will speak for itself. Congress is high on results, low on marketing," says the Congress leader in the exclusive interview.
Speaking on the BJP's high-pitched 2014 Lok Sabha polls campaign, Gandhi says, "This is an ideological fight. Congress stands for decentralisation of power while BJP believes in centralisation of power."
In his most candid interview till date, the Congress vice-president takes on BJP PM nominee Narendra Modi's Gujarat development claims, saying, "The poor need a launch pad to progress. A poor man cannot eat roads."
"BJP believes in the trickle-down effect, it wants to partner only with industry leaders," he adds.
Speaking about his party's approach to development, Gandhi says, "Congress empowered the people. We want more people involved in the process of nation-building."
